ING customers can now make purchases and withdraw cash overseas without worrying about the hurdles required to get there, starting 15 October.

As it stands, to get the travel benefits, users must deposit $1,000 into their account and make five settled card transactions per month.

The fee waiver will be applied automatically whenever customers use their Orange Everyday transaction account or Orange One credit card overseas, eliminating the need to meet any previous monthly spending requirements to qualify for fee rebates.

Similarly, from 15 October, the 1% utility bill cashback offer on Orange Everyday will no longer require a monthly spend, though all other terms and conditions will remain unchanged.

It’s important to note that while some ATM operators may still charge their own withdrawal fees, ING will no longer reimburse these costs, meaning customers could still face third-party fees in certain locations.

Within the Orange One credit card range, the Low Rate card, formerly offered with no annual fee, has recently introduced a $48 yearly charge. But the removal of international fees still represents a significant benefit for cardholders who use their cards overseas.

Until 14 October, existing fee rebates and cashback programs will continue for customers who meet the usual eligibility conditions, including those with ING home loans, allowing time for customers to adjust to the new terms.

This brings ING in-line with other digitally-focused banks, including ubank, Macquarie and Up which all waive foreign transaction and ATM fees overseas on their debit cards.
