As part of the customer-owned NGM Group, Greater Bank and Newcastle Permanent customers will enjoy six months of free Grocerize Premium, thanks to a new partnership with the grocery savings fintech.
Grocerize is a digital savings tool that uses a smart price-comparison engine to help shoppers save almost 30% on their supermarket bills.
The offer gives customers full access to Grocerize’s premium features, including price alerts, shopping list tools, and direct online checkout, designed to help households optimise their weekly grocery shop and ease the pressure of rising living costs.
James Cudmore, Chief Customer and Digital Innovation Officer at NGM Group - the merged mutual banking giant - said the partnership reflects the bank’s focused approach to delivering innovation that is both practical for customers and aligned with its values.
“Customer-owned banks exist to improve the lives of their customers, and that requires us to think differently about where value comes from,” Mr Cudmore said.
“This partnership underscores NGM Group’s commitment to purposeful innovation. We want to give our customers confidence that their bank is not only safe and strong, but also creative in the way it helps them navigate economic challenges and plan for the future.”
What is Grocerize and how does it work?
Customers eligible for the free six-month Grocerize Premium membership can activate their subscription and review the full terms and conditions by visiting the Greater Bank and Newcastle Permanent websites.
Speaking on the Savings Tip Jar podcast, Mr Cudmore said Grocerize can help customers find the best value deals at Coles and Woolworths, Australia’s two biggest supermarkets.
“Grocerize is a great service that lets customers build their shopping cart and then split it between the two major supermarkets to optimise their spending. Grocerize acts like an intermediary to help you find the best deal,” he said.
After you’ve added items to your list, Grocerize checks prices at both retailers to show where each product is currently cheapest. You can then choose to split your shop between the two stores in one step, based on those price comparisons.
