This is to coincide with the Victorian Government's plan to ease border restrictions from 5 November 2021 for fully vaccinated people.

Jetstar will be offering fares from $20 one-way in a 24-hour sale until today at 5pm AEST.

Flights from Melbourne to Sydney, Newcastle to Byron Bay, and Avalon to Sydney will be among the $20 fares on offer.

Additionally, Qantas launched its five-day sale, running to 25 September 2021 at 5pm AEST, with all-inclusive fares from $99 one-way from Melbourne to Sydney.

Fares across six regional routes between Victoria and NSW are also being offered in the sale.

Both sales launched on 20 September 2021 at 5pm AEST, with flights planned from 5 November to mid-December 2021.

For some Qantas fares, selected travel dates between January and March 2022 will also be available.

Gareth Evans, Jetstar Group CEO, said the airline expects seats to go quickly.

"As Victoria and New South Wales approach the 8%  double vaccination target, and travel between the two states looks set to reopen, we know there will be many people wanting to plan a well-earned holiday or visit loved ones," Mr Evans said.

"With Jetstar fares as low as $20, we expect these seats to be snapped up quickly, helping to revive the tourism industry and support local businesses, as well as get more of our people back to work."

Fully vaccinated travelers can take advantage of the Qantas Group's vaccination reward program, which includes a $20 travel voucher.

This can be used for both Qantas and Jetstar flights, including the sales fares mentioned.

According to Qantas, the following routes are planned for upcoming Jetstar flights:

  • Melbourne – Sydney
  • Melbourne – Byron Bay (Ballina)
  • Melbourne – Newcastle
  • Avalon – Sydney

These routes have also been included for upcoming Qantas flights:

  • Melbourne – Sydney
  • Melbourne – Newcastle
  • Melbourne – Coffs Harbour
  • Melbourne – Byron Bay (Ballina) on sale from tomorrow
  • Melbourne – Merimbula
  • Bendigo – Sydney
  • Mildura – Sydney

If the Victorian Government's roadmap is pushed back, or customers are unable to fly for any reason, Qantas has stated that customers will be able to change the date of their travel under both airline's Fly Flexible policies.
